๐Ÿ›๏ธ Brand History & Legacy

Founded in 2003 by Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning, Tesla Motors (now Tesla, Inc.) was named after inventor Nikola Tesla. Elon Musk joined as chairman and lead investor in 2004, becoming CEO in 2008. Tesla has fundamentally changed the automotive industry by proving that electric vehicles can outperform traditional gasoline cars in every meaningful way.

Tesla's journey began with the Roadster in 2008, the first highway-capable all-electric vehicle to use lithium-ion battery cells. This groundbreaking vehicle demonstrated that EVs could be both practical and desirable, achieving 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds with a 245-mile range.

Revolutionizing the Industry

The launch of the Model S in 2012 marked Tesla's entry into the luxury sedan market, winning Motor Trend Car of the Year and setting new standards for electric vehicle performance, safety, and technology. The Model 3, introduced in 2017, brought Tesla's technology to the mass market, becoming the world's best-selling electric car.

Tesla's impact extends beyond vehicles. The company's Gigafactories represent the future of automotive manufacturing, integrating battery production with vehicle assembly for unprecedented efficiency. Tesla's mission encompasses sustainable energy through solar panels, Solar Roof, and Powerwall home batteries.
